Meat and greet proves a tasty success
August 25, 2010 No CommentsNo, that’s not a typo, we’re alluding to last night’s Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce “meat and greet” sponsored by Burnin’ to Please Bar-B-Q, held in the Greenbrier City Hall community room. “The food was tremendous”, said chamber member Jerry Williams, of Conway Computer Doctor. “I’m a Louisiana food connoisseur and that was the best dirty rice I’ve ever eaten. Everything was extraordinary.”
The meeting wasn’t all about the food, though. It gave executive director Amie Regester a chance to meet some community members that she would not ordinarily get that chance to see. “I’m not going to kid myself,” said Regester. “Seventy members and guests didn’t show up just to hear me talk about what’s going on next year in the business community. Food always brings people together in a big way. Because of this get together, I have the opportunity to call on elected officials and leadership and say–’hi, remember me? Let’s go discuss the state of the City.’ That’s the power of good eating. My thanks to Burnin’ to Please for making this possible.”
The gathering was also a chance for 2011 Chamber Board Candidates to get to know the membership before Friday’s voting deadline. ”The turnout was great!” Said candidate Audreya Parks, Lender’s Title. ”I’m encouraged that so many people want to be actively involved in our community.”
“I enjoyed the evening”, said Homebank’s Terry Milam. “It was well planned, well attended and reminded me why I want to stay active in Greenbrier’s business building.”
