A: Samuel A. Holliman. Actually, the middle name is spelled out, but I’m going to keep that to myself.
Q: How long have you been in this business?
A: Since 1974. My wife Lisa and my business partners Sam & Linda Britton, and Bill & Betty Hartle bought five stores in 2004.
Q: Why the grocery business?
A: I started part time sacking groceries at the Piggly Wiggly in Conway. I liked it, was pretty good at it and stuck with this as a career. I’ve always loved working with and meeting new people.
Q: How many employees do you have?
A: 65 at the Greenbrier store, including part-time workers.
Q: What’s your biggest competition?
A: Larger chains in Conway, and there are some local stores that carry a few grocery items.
Q: Would you ever sell your Greenbrier Store?
A: I suppose every man has his price. Mine’s pretty high.
Q: How has recent legislation affected your business?
A: Well, healthcare issues, insurance, taxes…they all factor in. We don’t know exactly what the future holds, but we do what we can to adapt.
