Hunter Thrasher announced as "2026 Citizen of the Year"

From bright lights to high stakes, the annual Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce is set to celebrate our members and community awards during the annual banquet with a Vegas-inspired evening featuring great food, exciting entertainment, table play that you will not want to miss, and plenty of reasons to say, “Thank ya, thank ya very much.”

The annual Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce Banquet will be held Thursday, March 12 at Legacy Acres with festivities beginning at 5 PM and program beginning at 6:45. You can "Bet on the Brier" while dusting off your blue suede shoes, dressing to impress, and joining us for a night where what happens in Greenbrier… is definitely worth talking about.

The Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the first of many awards that will be celebrated including the prestigious, "2026 Citizen of the Year."

Hunter Thrasher is a lifelong member of the Greenbrier community and a graduate of Greenbrier High School (Class of 2013). He currently serves as the Associate Pastor at Greenbrier Nazarene and holds advanced degrees in theology and leadership, including a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D).

Hunter brings a thoughtful, grounded approach to leadership shaped by both education and lived experience. He has served the City of Greenbrier for seven years on the Planning Commission, and also works with Mayor Hartwick and the City Council as Recorder/Treasurer, helping guide responsible growth and steward public resources with care.

In addition to serving the city in these roles, you can find him working behind the scenes at many community events ensuring their success.

He and his wife, Melanie, are raising their two-year-old daughter, Adelynn, in Greenbrier. For Hunter, service to the community is not abstract - it is rooted in love for his family, gratitude for his hometown, and a commitment to the city that continues to shape his life.
