From bright lights to high stakes, the annual Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce is set to celebrate our members and community awards during the annual banquet with a Vegas-inspired evening featuring great food, exciting entertainment, silent auction, table play that you will not want to miss, and plenty of reasons to say, “Thank ya, thank ya very much.”
The annual Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce Banquet will be held Thursday, March 12 at Legacy Acres with festivities beginning at 5 PM and program beginning at 6:45.
The annual celebration will be highlighting not only award winners but individuals who truly took a "Bet on the 'Brier!"
The Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce proudly names Dr. Russell W. Everett as the 2026 Volunteer of the Year, recognizing his "Bet on the 'Brier" and extraordinary dedication to youth, community, and service throughout the Greenbrier area. Dr. Everett’s decades of volunteering with the Greenbrier Soccer Club have left an indelible mark on local sports, mentorship, and community development.
Dr. Everett’s involvement with Greenbrier began in 2004 when he volunteered to coach his daughter’s soccer team. This simple act is what sparked a lifelong commitment to the growth and success of soccer in the region. That first step ignited his passion for serving Greenbrier’s families and young people and eventually led to leadership roles that shaped the local soccer landscape.
In 2008, Dr. Everett stepped into the role of President of the Greenbrier Soccer Club. Under his stewardship, the club flourished. He led countless improvements including expansive field development, coach and referee training programs, youth leadership mentoring, and facility enhancements that provided a welcoming space for players, families, and volunteers alike. He worked tirelessly to raise standards in coaching certification, field safety, and community programming, always ensuring that every child had a chance to play, learn, and thrive.

One of Dr. Everett’s proudest achievements is the transformation of basic field amenities into the beloved Centennial Pavilion. The soccer complex is complete with restrooms, concessions, and storage made possible through collaboration with local partners and donors.
Beyond fields and facilities, Dr. Everett’s work has been rooted in mentorship: he initiated programs that empower high school and college students to coach and guide younger players, building leadership skills and community pride across generations. This focus on character, teamwork, and community engagement reflects the values that the Greenbrier Chamber honors in its Volunteer of the Year award. Thank you for your decades of service, your leadership, and your deep commitment to Greenbrier’s future.
Dr. Everett’s humility and appreciation for collaboration define his leadership. He consistently credits the many coaches, volunteers, and families who stood alongside him. “It really takes many people to be successful,” he has said, celebrating the collective effort that makes Greenbrier’s youth programs thrive.
