Barksdale Federal Credit Union started out with just a few airmen putting their money together to create a financial institution for their fellow colleagues back in 1954 in Bossier, Louisiana. Over the past 70+ years, it has grown to over 30 locations across Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas.
In March of 2022 the announcement of Barksdale Federal Credit Union acquiring Homebank of Arkansas, would make major headlines. This endeavor would be the first-ever acquisition of a credit union taking over a bank in the state. After the official purchase of the bank, and all 5 locations, transitioning to a credit union has overall been fairly easy. "We look forward to being a part of the Arkansas communities from Greenbrier, Damascus, and Marshall. We know this area is growing and we are excited to grow along with it.” said Patrick Gullatt, Barksdale Federal Credit Union, President and CEO.
The Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce proudly helped the Barksdale Team, students from Southside Public Schools, customers, and chamber members celebrate the official grand opening with the ceremonial ribbon cutting. The full house enjoyed the national anthem, sang by Kinsey Stacks and the pledge lead by students from Southside Elementary.
