The Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce celebrates the achievements of our outstanding business and community leaders annually and is excited to celebrate Mattie Fulmer as our 2023 Volunteer of the Year. She will be recognized during the annual (sold out) banquet, Thursday. The celebration is proudly presented by our community partners: Conway Regional Health System, Karen Ferguson Team -REMAX ELITE, Waco Title, First Security Bank, Pafford Medical Services, First Arkansas Bank and Trust, First Service Bank, Centennial Bank, The Children's Clinic of Conway and Greenbrier, Central Christian Academy, and Barksdale Federal Credit Union.

The event is also supported by Wilcox Family Funeral Home, Kennedy's Treasures, THINK Coffee, Zellner's Appliance, Braswell and Son, Ott Insurance, Kona Ice, Integrity Insurance Group, Inc., and Boston Mountain Rural Health Center.

Mattie Fulmer is the first to jump in and volunteer her time for whatever is needed and has put in countless hours not only to the Greenbrier Booster Club, but to the school and community as well. As the Booster Club President, she is a master delegator with a world class popcorn recipe that is served in our concession stands. She organizes meetings, and works closely with the coaches of Greenbrier Public Schools and the athletic department to communicate needs and information for athletes, parents, staff, and fans!

She was asked to join about 5-6 years ago and has been in charge of everything from the spirit booth to social media, finally landing as president. Mattie shares, "With booster club, there’s nothing you’re not involved in at some point. For the past few years, Booster has been growing, each year improving on the year before. I wanted to continue that legacy, continue to grow our board and increase our fundraising and scholarship opportunities. We created a tiered sponsorship program for business and individuals. Each level receives certain benefits in advertising thru the booster club. We work hard to promote games and events. With an increase of fans, players benefit from the fan base and booster benefits from increased concession and spirit sales. We’ve implemented some fundraising ideas such as raffles." They have a great member and sponsorship program and have created new board positions such as Parent Representative coordinator and social media coordinator. They now have an incentive program for “best team” to work in the concession stand during basketball season. They also have a “spirit store” in the Pavilion now. "I am extremely proud of our scholarship program. Each year, with our growth we have been able to give more and more."

She also adds, "I am very fortunate to have the ability to volunteer like I do. My “boss” is very understanding and my co-workers are amazing. Everyone has their strengths in life. Mine is to serve. I love helping people. My satisfaction comes from knowing that someone else’s day or week is better because of it. Volunteering has helped me fine tune my organizational skills which carries over into my personal life. One of my favorite parts of all of this is the social aspect. I’m a very social extrovert and I like most people. Notice I said most… Also I think I have a serotonin addiction. Helping people just makes me feel good."
