Congratulations to 2024 New Business of the Year, Wilcox Family Funeral Home. “When I was 10 years old, I was a pallbearer for my Great Granddaddy Milam. Even at that young age; I felt the sorrow, the grief, and the change in the air as I looked around at that service. I noticed two men that were dressed nice, respectful, they were mourning with our family. I knew then, that I wanted to help people in that way, when they are grieving” shares Freddie Mark Wilcox. As he grew, he assisted in the maintenance of the Springhill cemetery. Eventually, when he surrendered to the ministry it finally seemed like an opportunity that would pan out professionally.
Katie Wilcox Hussman, Freddie Mark’s daughter had an interest in this profession as well. Having worked for the former funeral home at that location, the opportunity presented itself in 2022 to purchase the business. Freddie Mark and Katie felt like they were answering the call they had been praying for. After transitioning to owners of the business, they kept the same staff and continued the excellence of care that the community has grown to love. They did some renovations to the facility and changed the name to Wilcox Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Now as owners, they have immersed themselves by giving back to the community. They have invested in the youth of the area and quality of life initiatives by sponsoring Glisten in Greenbrier, Greenbrier FFA, Greenbrier Booster Club, various other organizations and being involved with the chamber. While these are excellent things to invest in, ultimately the families in their care are their top priority. Katie shared,“People grieve differently, but I want to be there for people if they need to scream, cry, and laugh as they are going through that process. We are not trying to be a big corporation. We just want to be here for our community and when a family loses their loved one their first instinct is to call us.”
When families go to them in their time of need, they respond with calmness, kindness, and experience. Wilcox Family Funeral Home and Crematory’s goal is to provide families with a beautiful, unique, and meaningful service. Each step of the planning process is easy and they work diligently to meet families needs during that difficult time.
While it is hard to begin those conversations about final plans, Wilcox Family Funeral Home can assist with pre-planning and pre-funding. Regardless if you have began a pre-need plan with another funeral home; those plans are transferable with the state of Arkansas and Wilcox Family Funeral Home can assist with those needs as well.
